Although Facebook can be a wonderful place for networking and entertainment, it is also a place where hundreds of millions of people are gathered together. This is beneficial for networking, but is less than beneficial when spam works into the equation. The large network allows many people to get spammed with less effort. 1% of all Facebook are affected by this nuisance. Although it is only 1%, it is still 2-3 million people that are affected by it. Facebook does its best to remove spam, but there is only so much it can do.

By now I’m sure many of you have heard about the Apple iPad, a tablet computer revealed last week at Apple’s press release. So far the responses I have heard from friends have been rather mixed; I’ve heard quips about the name, criticisms about the lack of Flash support, and confusion about the overall purpose of the machine. Although the iPad does not have as much core capabilities as a net-book (and many people expected more renovations to the tablet design than were supplied), the iPad has the potential to influence entrepreneurship in a huge way.
First of all, an entrepreneur thrives on information access. The iPad offers 3G capabilities and would allow the user to easily access information on the web.
Secondly, the iPad is a slick presentation device. This device would be the perfect way to throw a sales pitch to a random potential customer.
Ever seen a thin, touch-capable, futuristic computer in a sci-fi movie? Because of Apple’s huge fan base, support for that kind of technology will increase now that the iPad is known to the public. This is good for the web entrepreneur because an increase in Web-dependent technology means an increase in potential customers.
Yes, the iPad has drawbacks. It may not be what people were expecting. However, web entrepreneurship can only benefit from the creation of a device like the iPad.

Mass Effect 2, developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows and the Xbox 360, hit shelves this past Tuesday. The long awaited sequel of critically acclaimed Mass Effect has received very positive reviews in the first few days since its release. The futuristic Sci-Fi RPG received a score of 96/100 from Metacritic and has a composite user rating of 91%, making it the highest rated game of 2010.
The plot picks up three years after the original story and has an array of new features, including a new combat system. There are also scores of new weapons and characters. One of the new characters in Commander Shepherd’s squad, Thane Krios (pictured below), is an assassin who not only has an awesome name, but an intriguing background story as well.
The PC version of the game retails for $49.99, with the console version being available for $59.99. A Collector’s Edition can also be obtained for an extra $10.00. Both versions of the game received a “Mature” rating by the ESRB. BioWare intends to release downloadable content for the game following its release.

Facebook Privacy Settings
In December 2009, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced that changes would be coming to the social networking behemoth. Almost all the changes dealt with new privacy settings for user accounts. In an interview, Zuckerberg stated that “public sharing” is the new buzzword for 2010. The changes made to Facebook do in fact, increase public sharing; however, they do so at a sacrifice of privacy and security. Before the changes, it was necessary to be friends with and/or share a network with another user to view his/her profile. Many users who were unaware of the changes have, by accepting Facebook’s recommended settings, set their privacy settings to allow literally anyone on the web to access their profile. Do not worry though! All privacy settings can be set to your own preferences by scrolling over the ‘Settings’ tab and clicking on ‘Privacy Settings.’ If you want to avoid any unwanted advertisements or visitors, I recommend that you restrict profile access to only your friends

Want to advertise to a specific target market? then what better way is there then to do so on Facebook. The average Facebook user has over 100 friends and when you think about each one of those 100 friends having over 100 more friends, and so forth, it turns out to be a gargantuan network of people. To advertise on Facebook all you have to do is create a fan page and fill out a fan page and then invite all of your friends on Facebook to view it. This means that thousands upon thousands of college students (and many other age brackets now) will have the chance to see your page.. and even better.. ITS FREE. With a link to a website or some other sort of contact information.. you are sure the be rakin’ in the dough in no time.
