Missing Prospective Clients

My name is Steve Stombaugh and I am a junior accounting major at Grove City College. I am going to intern for a small accounting firm in the suburbs of Pittsburgh in Scott Township. While this company only has 11 accountants on staff, Stenger, Bies, & Co. fails to have a website. While the company only hires on a need basis and rarely hires more than one person in a year or even couple of years, the company could get their name out there to prospective employees.  The company perfoms personal and small business tax returns and helps with tax planning. This being said; people are more likely to want to deal with someone who is from a local community and they can relate to. Some people don’t want to go to H & R block or one of the Big Four Accounting Firms. With people being constantly on the internet and that being where they do the majority of their searches for services this could be a valuable tool to the company.

More Fun for Less Cash

We all know some hobbies can be expensive; particularly outdoor sports such as skiing/snowboarding and hiking/climbing. Unfortunately, the fact that a hobby is expensive has deterred people from pursuing their interests. Thankfully there are ways to find gear for super discounted prices. Whiskey Militia, Steep and Cheap, and Brociety are three of my favorite websites. They are all geared toward the above mentioned outdoor sports and all sell multiple items a day for at least 50% off. Whiskey Militia is all board sport oriented; skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding. Steep and Cheap is more for the outdoorsy, hiker/camper and skier. Brociety sells strictly snowboarding stuff.

All of these sites are parented by Backcountry where you can find all sorts of great deals. I encourage you to check all of these sites out:

Think its a Waste of Time to Follow Celebrities? Too Bad, They're Everywhere Now

There’s talent out there.  You just have to know where to look.  Naturally, everyone looks to YouTube to find the next artist, director, comedian, etc.  People have found ways to make themselves famous with as little as an idea, a video camera, and a computer.  This has helped to further a trend that has developed over the past several decades:  there are more famous people than ever before.  People today now know of dozens of artists, business people, and politicians because they have found better ways to make themselves known.

Buttloads of famous people.  Everywhere.  Is this a potential problem?  Yes.  For every YouTuber’s who tries to become famous, there are 400 more.  The most narcissistic ones will begin to advertise themselves in order to get more hits on their videos.  But only people with money can afford to advertise themselves well.  Like Paris Hilton.  She has money, no talent, but a lot of YouTube videos.  Stay away!  If you are wise, go to your personal YouTube settings and make sure Paris Hilton is banned from your searches.  Don’t let the stupidity get to you!

The Best Wedding Dance Every

Youtube has started to become a popular activity to do to waste time or get you through a class. One day my friend and I were showing each other funny Youtube videos. He showed me this video called, “JK Wedding Entrance Dance.” This video has the whole wedding party dance to the hip hop song Chris Brown- Forever. This video was quite amusing, but the most astonishing part was the video had over forty-three million views. This video was even reenacted on The Office. The bride even came down this untraditional way. I was very surprised the church let this happen and was surprised the bride didn’t even walk down with her father. I know I would absolutely love it if I was in attendance at this wedding. Everyone was up dancing to it and really enjoyed it. It was definitely a nice change of pace to traditional weddings.

If only I could stumble upon something amazing…

Ever find yourself sitting in a lecture.. or a class.. or a meeting, where the speaker has a striking resemblence to the teacher in The Peanuts? Wish there was something to cure this boredom? Well in my conquests of finding this escape I stumbled upon a cure for this boredom. www.stumbleupon.com, effeciently named, helps the user to do just this. You first click on certain interests you have, ie. humor, music, and/or movies. The generator then takes these topics and sends the user to a random website that includes at least one of these topics, if not more than one. Some if not most of the sites are in every way interesting. In my first conquest I found myself stumbling on websites that involved humor and it led me to this.

A interesting video of men playing the mario theme song, with an RC car and bottles. This in every way is a solid cure to my boredom. What do you think?
