I admittedly used to love Farmville.  First semester sophomore year, I filled my study breaks with Farmville.  I also filled my studying with Farmville.  It was very entertaining to watch my little farm grow because of the work I put into it.  I justified my perfected time-wasting by pretending that the economics were completely accurate and that the game was a good portrayal of real life.

Then I bought a tractor and Farmville informed me that, to fuel the tractor, I had to spend money on the game.  Real money.  What a joke.  I could not possibly sit still long enough to run my farm without a tractor.  I quit playing Farmville.

I think Farmville’s business model is lame.  I will call it the bottle rocket business model.  It preys on users that are obsessed with their product for a short time and spend some money on it.  Even the product itself is only a fad.  This business is purely to make money through a fad.

The problem is, they’re making money.  That says something about us.  We’re lame too.

Facebook may be the largest social media platform in the world, but LinkedIn may be the most valuable. LinkedIn is considered to be the “professional” version of Facebook. Users create profiles, but these profiles have more of an emphasis on personal achievement and skill sets. LinkedIn provides a way for people to make personal business connections and apply for jobs. It is the world’s best way to network online. Professionals can make personal recommendations and apply for jobs using connections on the site. It allows users to share their personal expertise with the world. This can be a huge help to college students who are looking to find a job out of college.

Pros

• Most well-known video platform online
• Large volume of videos on all different topics
• Easier to share videos with other platforms

Cons

• Recent upsurge in ‘censoring’ the music/sound of videos
• Quality of videos is diluted because of the large amount of content

Conclusion: Youtube is clearly the larger platform. On the other hand Vimeo gives off a more professional feel.

Blogging for money became a hot topic in the early middle 2000’s. The thought of writing a blog and getting readers to view your material while you make money seemed easy enough. But how feasible is it to make a decent amount of money blogging? In reality, fairly difficult.

The key is, create a site that generates a lot of traffic, then try and use your impressive Analytics data to sell ad space for top dollar.

There are so many different licenses and certifications out there today that people need for jobs or leisure activities. Real estate licenses, fishing and boating licenses, driver’s licenses are just some examples of different licenses. Many people these days are doing this through the internet. It’s easy, on your own time and in your own house. You don’t have to go to a classroom or private tutoring or any educational facility. You just have to press and click. This has become a great internet business. Think about how people need licenses and they are doing it over the internet theses days. It’s also cheaper to do it online. There are also online resources such as ebooks and search engines to help you get through the online courses. If you need a license of any kind, do it through the internet. It will save you a lot of time and a lot of money.
