There is no question that Facebook has revolutionized the world of online communication. People can communicate on each other’s walls, through messages, or through Facebook Chat. Will this make Email Obsolete? Certainly Facebook has not become an accepted form of communication in the business world, but it is becoming more popular among peers. Facebook messaging, however has a sloppy, and hard to organize format. Also, Chat is done with randomness and isn’t always a valid option if the other person isn’t signed on. Finally, walls are very public and other people can see that. Still, it is much easier especially when people are constantly on their Facebook pages and check back often. In the end, Email will not be overtaken by Facebook in the business world unless Facebook drastically changed their messaging format. Even then it would be a difficult avenue to break in. But among friends, it seems that Facebook has already trumped Email. Friends no longer exchange emails, but  instead they simply look up the other person on Facebook.

Many people watch sports, but there is always a highlight that people have missed from the night before. Soon, the story of what happened has spread through the office and you are clueless. YouTube is the first place to go in order to get up to date. YouTube has taken replays to a new level. Not only can people see the top 10 plays, but they can watch almost any highlight from various games. This increases YouTube’s traffic even more and has done great things for YouTube as well as the world of Sports. It raises awareness for sports and people can more easily appreciate other teams that they normally don’t watch, but now can see their team’s top plays.

Gaming websites such addicting games and free online games are are just two of the many sites out there that are being used as an advertising machine. Every time I go on them I am hit with hundreds of ads. I think that facebook and youtube are the primary social media sites to advertise on but these gaming websites aren’t too far behind. Millions of kids and even adults play games on these sites every day. Its free and there is so many games to choose from. If people are thinking about post some ads i would recommend taking a look at some popular gaming websites. You can also use different sites to do this for you. They will be the middle man for you. You can also join blogs that are specifically gaming blogs, where you can post ads there. When people start realizing the power of these sites, they will make some noise.

Hulu has revolutionized the way we watch television. No longer do we have to sit down at the time a show is playing to watch or suffer through long commercial breaks at critical times in the plot of the program. Hulu allows anyone to watch their favorite programs online, anytime, for free.

They are able to do this legally by purchasing rights to the show from the network it runs on. They pay for these rights by having a few commercials. Commercials on Hulu will run about 3 times, for 2 minutes each time, during an hour long program. (Which is really only 40 minutes, once the commercials are taken out.)

While there are so many less commercials, Hulu is able to make a profit because of the number of people who will watch a show now that they can do it anytime and from any location with an internet connection. They also make money from their Hulu Plus subscriptions, which allow the user to watch a greater variety of shows, more seasons of popular shows, and everything commercial free.

Using the combined revenue streams, Hulu was thought to have made $250 million in 2010 according to Business Insider.
