Many people cock their heads and give you a quizzical look if you mention Squidoo around them. The name is just as odd as its logo – a malnourished squid hovering somewhere in upper part of your computer screen staring at you with its one glossy eye. So why is it worth mentioning?

Squidoo has coined the term “lens” and employed it as a way of describing how their website works. Each blog is a “lens”. In short, this means that each post is an all encompassing summary of that particular topic. Squidoo’s goal is to provide a holistic view of each  blog subject within the lens.


After reading each lens, many bloggers will place a link somewhere on their page, redirecting the reader to a website that has more information about the topic they’re interested in. Topics can range from Green products to how a panini is made. The simplicity of the website makes it easily navigable while still providing the information you want. It is an incredible tool that places it years ahead of any other blogging site to date.
