Creative Commons and misuse of Licenses – hand in hand?

Although Creative Commons offers multiple licenses for different uses, some critics suggest that people have begun to misuse the licenses they have recieved from Creative Commons . For example, some documentary filmmakers could have vastly different concerns from those held by a lawyer or an IT professional. Additionally, people wishing to use a Creative Commons-licensed work would have to determine if their particular use is allowed under the license or if they must still get permission. I beleive this is strong misuse, what do you think?

Myspace go bye bye

Think back to when you were in 6th grade. Sitting at home on a school night on the computer, 95% of students would be surfing the world wide web on Myspace. In todays world with the social networking system of Facebook, Myspace has slowly slid off the map. Because of the ability to keep in quick contact with friens from far distances, while sharing networking systems like schools, work places, or universities, Facebook quickly takes the gold. Now i beleive that Myspace will continue to fail, and all of the once profitable qualities of it will be taken by Facebook. What do you think?

Digg – Are You a Blog or The New Wiki?

Digg, a social news website made for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the Internet, by submitting links and stories, and voting and commenting on submitted links and stories, has come under some recent controversy, because of how driven the site is by its users. Just like Wikipedia any user that signs on to Digg.com can post any opinion that they feel so true. Because of this, misinformation has begun to take over the majority of the postings upon the site. Users go on, posed as professionals and write nothing but pure opinion, that other users can read and beleive as fact. It is my beleif that in order for somone to post fact on the site they must have other sourses to back up what they are posting. What do you think?

If only I could stumble upon something amazing…

Ever find yourself sitting in a lecture.. or a class.. or a meeting, where the speaker has a striking resemblence to the teacher in The Peanuts? Wish there was something to cure this boredom? Well in my conquests of finding this escape I stumbled upon a cure for this boredom. www.stumbleupon.com, effeciently named, helps the user to do just this. You first click on certain interests you have, ie. humor, music, and/or movies. The generator then takes these topics and sends the user to a random website that includes at least one of these topics, if not more than one. Some if not most of the sites are in every way interesting. In my first conquest I found myself stumbling on websites that involved humor and it led me to this.

A interesting video of men playing the mario theme song, with an RC car and bottles. This in every way is a solid cure to my boredom. What do you think?

A world where glory = idiocracy

In a world where almost any video posted online can be viewed from a single website, today’s population has once again ruined it. People have taken a usefull source of video, and turned it into another place to make complete and utter fools of themselves. Some may say that is a chance for a nobody to become famous, but is putting on a pair of headphones and jiggling your extra two or three chins to the sound of a techno song really worth the fame? Yes some of the videos posted are quite funny, but all at the expense of the ‘nobody’ that dreamed of being known. Well congrats people of Youtube, your dreams have come true. From this day forward we will recognize you as Mr. Numa Numa, or the Afro Ninja. We will forever know what David acts like, high out of his mind coming home from a trip to the dentist. Christmas will never seem so exciting after seeing how the N64 kid acts, upon recieving the present of his dreams. We will always feel like we have so much coordination after watching Scarlet take a tumble. All the while sitting on our beds singing along to Why must I Cry. Youtube has been a great source of video, but is it just me that thinks people have once again ruined it?
