We’ve all seen those links online like “Hey, I found this cool new tool. Just click here to get it!”
Effective right? Sure. It provides the link and keeps the text easy to read. That’s great! But wait…
Linking is a huge part of SEO, and the title of the links are very important. Links such as “click here” are:
- A dime a dozen – they’re everywhere! So there’s no uniqueness
- Irrelevant to content – just like other tags, the anchor tag (HTML link tag) should be optimized with the targeted keywords. AT THE VERY LEAST, they should include the company name…
To keep from people linking to your site foolishly, provide share buttons on your pages so they can simply click a button and get the right link. At least, that’s one way to do it. You can always research your links and then ask webmasters to change the links if you don’t like them.
