Linked In is a fairly new site that has been made in connection with Facebook in order for people to connect with businesses and find jobs more easily. In such a difficult economy and job situation, this is the ideal site for people to be on. Often times people can not be looking in the right place and Linked in provides guidance for them. It takes them to a new level in their networking capabilities. Every college student is told to network, but not everyone has those senior executives that have been long time family friends or other close business networks to get involved with. Linked In provides that venue for people to more easily stay in touch with different companies and find those networking opportunities online. This is great for mostly younger college grad type students, but people entering a new field or just looking to network could also use it.

Blogging: Fad or Forever
Blog posts across the internet have increased immensely. People are finally able to share their thoughts online, and hope that someone will care. This open and free sharing has revolutionized the way the internet is used and how businesses view the internet. Blogging sites such as blogpost or wordpress provide open venues for people to come and share their thoughts. Businesses have embraced blogging as a way to get positive reviews for their products from real people that potential customers would be more willing to trust than the actual business. in some way, blogging can be like free advertising. Still, it seems that blogging sites go up and die out everyday. Sure there are a few that last and can even make a little money, but it is hard to maintain a site that is based solely on people being interested in what is written on it. So while Blogging itself may last for a long time, it will take something new to make this blogging into something that can be seen as a viable long term business.

Just ten years ago, watching television online was nearly impossible because of the slow speeds and poor video qualities known at the time. Now, Internet speeds are exponentially faster, and video quality has improved immensely. In order to fill this open market, Hulu has captured this niche. They are an online company which plays primarily TV shows to any internet user for free. The only condition is a few ads put in the show throughout. Which, considering the same thing is the case on TV, Hulu has grown to be a very popular venue. Some companies however, such as CBS, have been trying to keep their videos from Hulu, and instead play them on their own website. While this is inconvenient for the consumer, the videos are still there and free. Hulu has started this surge in internet TV and it has grown immensely to making netflix more popular and all sorts of Streaming sites. Hulu has done for internet TV what Pandora did for internet radio.
Email or Facebook?
There is no question that Facebook has revolutionized the world of online communication. People can communicate on each other’s walls, through messages, or through Facebook Chat. Will this make Email Obsolete? Certainly Facebook has not become an accepted form of communication in the business world, but it is becoming more popular among peers. Facebook messaging, however has a sloppy, and hard to organize format. Also, Chat is done with randomness and isn’t always a valid option if the other person isn’t signed on. Finally, walls are very public and other people can see that. Still, it is much easier especially when people are constantly on their Facebook pages and check back often. In the end, Email will not be overtaken by Facebook in the business world unless Facebook drastically changed their messaging format. Even then it would be a difficult avenue to break in. But among friends, it seems that Facebook has already trumped Email. Friends no longer exchange emails, but instead they simply look up the other person on Facebook.
