Grove City College: Out to Change the World

**This is the blog post for the 2nd question on the Internet Entrepreneurship final

Grove City College recently started offering “entrepreneurship” as a major. Many people think that entrepreneurs are just people who are fed up with their boss. After graduating from Grove City College, with a BA in Entrepreneurship, I would say that Grove City College does more than just teach knowledge of business fields necessary for any business owner to have. An entrepreneur learns to develop a mindset of entrepreneurship. The major gives the student a true sense of how business can give value to the world. The knowledge of the latest business tactics combined with strong Christian principals help to develop leaders that the world lacks today. The Entrepreneurship program requires bright and self motivated students to innovate the world as we see it today. Grove City College produces students who are capable of changing the world because of the mindset that they teach along with the rigorous curriculum. A degree in Entrepreneurship is a degree be free to change the world. After graduating you can work as an intra-preneur within a business. You can feel free to find a pain that people are feeling and alleviate that pain while putting money in your pockets. Not many people know what they are going to want to do for the rest of their lives. Entrepreneurs are given the vision to a path that will lead to a life that is focused on creating mutually beneficial relationships. Constant learning and adapting to the ever changing environment is a life long quest to change the world, not only as a Christian, but also as a well learned businessman/woman.

Top 3 Social Entrepreneurship Pitfalls

Before becoming a “social entrepreneur” it is important to be aware of these 3 things.

1 You might not know exactly who you are

If you dont know exactly who you are, then your stakeholders will be even more clueless. The last thing you want to do is send out confusing messages to everyone around you. Knowing who you are seems like a simple concept, but it is vital in social entrepreneurship. So know who you are without having to compare yourself to others, you need to be authentic. Rethink what it is exactly that you are doing and you will avoid many problems down the road, and your followers will see a clearer vision to follow.

2  Its easy to send out an unwanted message

When online, you can find tons of content. You need to choose your words very carefully. Choosing slick phrases and using other methods that are visually stimulating will only go so far. Throw your main keywords everywhere. keep it simple and focused. Projecting a message to the masses isnt always free, and you should spend your hard earned money saying only what you have to say. Perfect your message, but dont wait too long to get it out there.

3 You might have forgotten to think about long term relationships

People are one of the most valuable assets. Keep their trust. You can do this by being consistent, transparent, reasonable, honest, and all those lovely things. With social entrepreneurship, trust and long term relationships are extremely important. You need to build your long term brand equity.

How to blog like a pro

We are all(as a class)  blogging constantly. There are millions of blogs out there. How do we stand out? Blogs do not generally stand out, but you can have a more successful blog if you follow these 5 simple tips.

1-KISS- Keep it short and snappy. This can be done with bullet points and careful use of words. Use the least amount of words and make them count. Make it easy to scan with good subtitles.

2-Write about something you care about- The reason people are reading your blog is because it is not the opinion of a big business. Be passionate about your opinions and it will show.

3 Use Keywords- This will help people see you, and know what you are all about.

4 Include many links- This will help you network with other people and websites, which will give you more exposure.

5 Have viral content- Write about something that people will want to tell their friends about. Be unique, be original.

Good luck with your blogging! Now, if only I could follow all those rules…
