Radiohead free album

Radiohead is following in the foot steps of Nine Inch Nails they are releasing their current album for free on their site. Interestingly it has brought great success to both bands. All one must do to get a copy of their album On Rainbows is add it to the cart and they can enter the price and then a download link appears. One can pay any amount they want or not pay at all. The band is releasing it this way in hopes that people who download the album for free then will buy the album.

Nine Inch Nails in the past has went out and did special eddition cds for the people who actually buy the album. NIne inch Nails variation on the situation is its only free for so long and then eventually goes up to a nominal 5 dollar download fee. Radiohead hasnt released yet if they will get rid of the free album yet or not but a cool feature and a good way to get a new album if you would like. Sometimes one has to give out their album to show that they still care about their fans. In the day and age where fans feel disconnected from their favorite stars this is a nice change to the situation.

Big Mosaics

I personally am quite fond of photo mosaics. I love buying posters of photo mosaics. I know their are programs out their to make your own, but well it is expensive to print good quality ones. This problem i have found can go away with the site www.bigmosaics.com. I really like this site from an entrepreneurial concept its simple but works. The person needs the customers photo and background picture and the software does the rest. The next is to have a really good printer and a company can do this because they will have a purpose for it. Yes they are expensive to buy, but because they are professionally printed they would last a long time. Wouldnt it be cool to do a photo mosaic of something of Grove City made with photos provided by the student body. A picture may say a thousand words but a picture made up of hundreds of photos says a lot of words. I really like the site and its definitely worth looking at.

Cheaper Than Dirt

Does your roommate suffer from such strong flatulence that they can kill a man if so you are in luck because cheaper than dirt sells military surplus products at great prices. I have seen gas masks on this site for under 10 bucks. This site is great because the militarys have tons of useless material that they are trying to move and this company buys it and moves it at ridiculously cheap prices.

The item i found that was really interesting was the German military blankets they looked ridiculously warm and i bet would last forever. At school we all understand the dorms are very cold and this blanket would be an awesome addition to anyones dorm room.

KIva

Alright Kiva sounds like a cool concept but heres my question. If i donate my money i get a tax break if i lend my money do i still get a tax break? Our we as a society so cheap that we cannot donate 25 bucks anymore or are we so selfish with our money that we want repaid even if it is a good cause? I am not sure the answer to any of these questions but i just wonder what happens. Also not all entrepreneurs succeed if the guy fails does he have to pay you back? I looked at their site very quickly and wondered all these things if anyone knows more please fill me in but a really cool concept?

Will Linkedin Replace The Way Executive Recruiting is Conducted?

I like the idea of linkedin as a way to connect with others in the professional world in order to show your network and strength, but I also have many reserves about this principle. First off, I really do not want other people knowing everyone in my network because well my connections are my connections. It is almost like giving away your advantageous network for anyone that is friends with you to use. If you or your other connections abuse your contacts and connections then eventually they will not be their for you when need them.
Next, honestly you may be able to do the initial connection to the person with linkedin, but then all communications after should be a more formal way. Our society is becoming a society that is to informal and it is not a move in the right direction. Certain styles of communication are appropriate for certain things. Email is not not an appropriate form of communication for all business related activities. One of the reasons why face to face meetings as well as letter writing will never go away is the personal factor that gets added and gets appreciated by both sides.
Linkedin will aid in the way executive recruiting is done but it will never replace the old way due to its in-formalness. Linkedin is a grand idea on paper but I do not think it will pan out completely. Last I saw they had 9 million users which is impressive, but not sure how it is profitable as a company. In December of last year they brought in a new CEO formerly of Procter and Gamble in hopes of turning the company around. Only time will tell if they are successful, but I think a lot of these sites were developed out of side projects not as a business initially and that the plan never becomes truly profitable.
