Digg is perfect for college students to pass the time during class. I enjoy the random articles that are about off the wall things. There was an article posted on Digg called “50 Awesome Young Me/Now Me Photos” where people did the same pose they did in the old picture. Anything that is somewhat amusing can get me through 50 minutes of class. I am in fact writing this during class to help pass those 50 minutes. Another favorite are vides of people fighting especially hockey fights or women fighting. I think Digg is a wonderful thing to keep me up on the most important current events especially when is about 8 ex’s you don’t want to get involved with.

What is the most used music player among students? I would have to say its Pandora. Pandora is famous for picking artists and it plays songs from that artist and other similar artists. Listing to Pandora is a safe alternative to downloading illegal music. One downside, the user can also skip songs, but after a while Pandora won’t let it change. Pandora is free for users. In 2008, this company almost collapsed. Starting in 2009, users are limited 40 hours a month or 99 cents a month for unlimited. I think a good idea would be to start out a fee to that lets more user control. College students like to listen to music while doing work or just hanging out. If this becomes popular, there is opportunity to get some advertisement on the website.

Kiva is a website where entrepreneurs post their business ideas in hopes of getting an investor in the company.  There are entrepreneurs all over world seeking money to help start up their businesses. Kiva is based on the generosity of people and it promotes dignity, responsibility, and transparency. Kiva has generated over $100 million in loans to entrepreneurs. Lenders look through the profile and send money through paypal or a credit card to that person. I personally would never get involved in this because you only read a small profile and do not get to actually talk to the person. If the person did not repay, it would be a headache to go through getting a couple hundred dollars back or even a couple thousand. I think the website is a good idea, but is just something I would never get involved in.

My name is Steve Stombaugh and I am a junior accounting major at Grove City College. I am going to intern for a small accounting firm in the suburbs of Pittsburgh in Scott Township. While this company only has 11 accountants on staff, Stenger, Bies, & Co. fails to have a website. While the company only hires on a need basis and rarely hires more than one person in a year or even couple of years, the company could get their name out there to prospective employees.  The company perfoms personal and small business tax returns and helps with tax planning. This being said; people are more likely to want to deal with someone who is from a local community and they can relate to. Some people don’t want to go to H & R block or one of the Big Four Accounting Firms. With people being constantly on the internet and that being where they do the majority of their searches for services this could be a valuable tool to the company.

Youtube has started to become a popular activity to do to waste time or get you through a class. One day my friend and I were showing each other funny Youtube videos. He showed me this video called, “JK Wedding Entrance Dance.” This video has the whole wedding party dance to the hip hop song Chris Brown- Forever. This video was quite amusing, but the most astonishing part was the video had over forty-three million views. This video was even reenacted on The Office. The bride even came down this untraditional way. I was very surprised the church let this happen and was surprised the bride didn’t even walk down with her father. I know I would absolutely love it if I was in attendance at this wedding. Everyone was up dancing to it and really enjoyed it. It was definitely a nice change of pace to traditional weddings.
