facebookcartoon 300x250 Facebook and the Young Entrepreneur

Doesn't have much to do with the post, I just thought it was funny.

In our class text, Wikinomics, it stresses the importance of ‘mass collaboration’ to the survival and growth of today’s modern business. Mass collaboration (as pertains to business) is the use of the online community and its power/influence in growing a business. One could say it is the lifeblood of the economical future.

What is the largest online community on the Internet? Facebook. So how can Facebook be harnessed for today’s modern business? Better yet, how can I, a young, learning, handsome entrepreneur use Facebook in my small business?

I can think of several ways: 1) Friend request as many people as possible. Suddenly, you have your own focus group and test market. 2) Connections. Facebook connects you with anyone, anywhere, anytime. Meet a possible business partner? Find him on Facebook. 3) Market research. Find out what people’s preferences are, their likes, and their dreams. 4) Target Market. Advertsing with Facebook allows you to specify exactly who sees your ad and who doesn’t. IE. Advertise to the Grove City College network only. 5) Jobs. I will not be surprised when firms hire interns purely on the basis of keeping their Facebook updated and flowing. Nor will I be surprised when Facebook is a class offered at a business university.
