In December 2009, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced that changes would be coming to the social networking behemoth. Almost all the changes dealt with new privacy settings for user accounts. In an interview, Zuckerberg stated that “public sharing” is the new buzzword for 2010. The changes made to Facebook do in fact, increase public sharing; however, they do so at a sacrifice of privacy and security. Before the changes, it was necessary to be friends with and/or share a network with another user to view his/her profile. Many users who were unaware of the changes have, by accepting Facebook’s recommended settings, set their privacy settings to allow literally anyone on the web to access their profile. Do not worry though! All privacy settings can be set to your own preferences by scrolling over the ‘Settings’ tab and clicking on ‘Privacy Settings.’ If you want to avoid any unwanted advertisements or visitors, I recommend that you restrict profile access to only your friends
