I know personally it can be frustrating when you eat the same thing often, along with the takeout process in general. Sometimes finding a new restaurant is a challenge if you live in a large enough area and don’t know all of your choices. Matt Maloney and Mike Evans could relate. They were tired of calling one restaurant after another trying to figure out where they could get takeout and then having to figure out that specific restaurant’s takeout process, so they developed a digital platform to make it easier for everyone.
“Grubhub is the nation’s leading online and mobile food ordering company dedicated to connecting hungry diners with local takeout restaurants. The company’s online and mobile ordering platforms allow diners to order directly from more than 50,000 takeout restaurants in over 1,100 U.S. cities and London. Every order is supported by the company’s 24/7 customer service teams. Grubhub has offices in Chicago, New York and London.”
GrubHub not only benefits the customers looking for takeout food, but local businesses to get more attention on their restaurants. Statistics from GrubHub’s website say that restaurants have received in total about three billion of gross food sales. The platform itself asks you to type in your location and will search restaurants around you. Once it processes that, it gives the search results of the name and logo of the restaurant, the minimum price you would spend, ratings from other people and the takeout delivery fee. It also can show a map of where the restaurant is in relation to your location. Once you click the restaurant that you want, you can order off of the menu directly from GrubHub and note any special preferences in terms of how the food is prepared. The site really offers customers a simple, fast way to order food. The success is shown by the 8.2 million users and 290,000 orders placed everyday.
