Home Depot has recently launched their own iPhone app to help consumers find the store and shop online. This use of internet technology is expected to help boost Home Depot’s sales among younger consumers. Using the app, the customer can quickly find the closest store or see the newest sale items. One of the most helpful features is the “Do It Yourself” project feature. With this, consumers can type in a specific home-repair project and be given instructions on how to do it as well as a list of the tools necessary to complete the job. Of course, necessary tools can be easily added to the customers shopping cart.
Home Depot’s use of internet technology and the popularity of the iPhone could be a very important part of their future growth as they struggle to compete against Lowe’s.
