Now that you have a successful web based business and you are getting orders from people all over the country, you might run into a significant yet often underestimated problem. This is the problem of culture. Culture even in one country can be interesting and diverse especially in the United States. Do you know what the official national language is? We don’t have one. So why would your website be ONLY in English? What about your potential customers whose first language is German or Italian or Spanish? 78% of articles on Wikipedia are NOT in English.
Google has a great tool to deal with this problem. Google Translate is a simple and easy way to help people from all backgrounds access you website. All you need to do is to add a small section of html into your website. Then there will be a button on your page that people can use to instantly and very accurately translate the entire page into their language. Google Translate currently offers 64 different languages. Google hasn’t figured out how to translate all aspects of culture just yet, but the language barrier is a great start. You should make that start.
