We are a different class of college students every Spring. Together we explore what it means to do business in a "Web 2.0" world. Technology, new businesses, cutting-edge trends, we cover them all!

This website is sweet, great post Molly! I learned about this last semester when i was trying to develop a way to raise funds for Christian Missionaries. I like this because it is very simple and very original. A site that is well thought out and easy to see the point of it will eventually take off. This idea is one of a kind and can benefit so many people. My cousin actually used this site for fundraising for his band. He said it worked well!
Glad someone did a write up about this. My band used it a few years ago to raise money for producing and distributing a new album. We utilized a few different funding-price options where you could get the download for $10, physical cd and download $15, $30 for tshirt and physical cd/download etc. It went really well, kinda scary at times with trying to make enough money to meet the quota, and by the end we used a loophole by putting our own cash in for the difference that had not been met at the very end. That way we still got the support we had raised and didn’t have to put in as much money. I wish the website were more intuitive in regards to finding people/things you are looking to support. Unless you have the link to the exact page, it is nearly impossible to find your desired organization.
I have had several friends use Kickstarter to fund their projects. In fact, one of my friends raised approximately $2000 to fund the recording of his latest album.
Kickstarter has made it a lot easier for individuals to fund their creative projects. Link your Kickstarter project to your Facebook and it shouldn’t take too long before you receive funding.
