Kiva is basically an organization that helps people lend money to small businesses via the internet. The cool aspect about Kiva is that they are helping the entrepreneur in poor countries to develop their ideas.
With Kiva you can make a direct loan to someone in the developing world to help them get on their feet to start their own business and support their family. The loan is almost nothing – as small as $25 – to about $200, which translates to huge amounts in countries like Colombia, Turkey, Ghana, or Pakistan. Such a small donation goes a long way in feeding a family of four or more.
I think Kiva might be the best way to decrease poverty around the world.
