There are many reasons people use twitter such as, networking, research, marketing tool, and branding. Twitter is a place that people are searching for connection and information about certain topics, acting as a blog, social messaging site and forum all in one.lance armstrong 002 300x180 Reward on Twitter

Celebrities have begun to get in on the action. Now many of them are spoofs, people acting as celebrities posting daily. For a long time someone was acting as Lance Armstrong until a couple of months ago when he took over his name.

The latest news pertaining to Lance was his post about his time trial bike being stolen.  Armstrong said, someone stole my time trial bike! APB out to the twitterati,” he told his 112,000 followers on the micro blogging site after a grueling stage on the Tour of California. He later posted a TwitPic of the missing bike pointing out that “there is only one like it in the world” and that it is “therefore hard to pawn it off”. He added that a “reward is being offered”.

I think this might be a first on twitter. Posting a lost and found post with a reward attached to it for a celebrities bike. So keep your eyes open for this one of a kind bike, who knows how much money Lance is willing to dish out.

This is a great example of how fast communication has become via the internet.

Just imagine if Lance had to put up ‘Lost Bike, please call 555-1234, $500 reward’ posters…..

  2. I agree, one of the benefits of Twitter is that it can almost communicate information faster than other traditional types of media. I find the Lance Armstrong story hilarious, but is there no legal way to stop people from acting as someone they are not? Who knows what people could say if they were acting as you.
