For those of you that clunkiness just won’t cut it, I invite you to check out Squarespace. Squarespace specializes in very minimalistic, very clean website templates. Think of it as a hipsters-only WordPress. However, now with the site’s newest feature those hipsters can start making money to buy their vintage, cut-off jean vests and fair-trade, vegan coffee.
Squarespace recently introduced Squarespace Commerce, an add-on feature that is compatible with any of its templates. For $24/month (plus a $0.30 + 2.9% fee to its payment processor, Stripe, for every transaction), Squarespace Commerce offers a robust order management system that seems to offer a variety of services comparable to Shopify and Big Cartel. In fact, it even has a feature to easily transfer “with just a few clicks” any images or data you might have on those sites over to Squarespace Commerce.
As you might expect, this site is heavily used by artists and musicians. They seem to have taken this into account when designing the commerce platform as in the feature description, the ease of sale of digital goods is especially highlighted. This will allow its users to easily get out (and make money on) their photos, music, and more.
One Response to “Sales for the Super Sleek”

We are a different class of college students every Spring. Together we explore what it means to do business in a "Web 2.0" world. Technology, new businesses, cutting-edge trends, we cover them all!

I had never considered how important aesthetics are for a website before this class. However, after some independent research, it seems as the major factor in whether a potential customer stays on your site or runs the opposite direction is how “beautiful” it is. In the case of an already ad-crowded internet, the simpler, the better. This will be a very useful resource in the future for those trying to establish themselves online.
