When I first stumbled upon Twitter, my initial thoughts were that it was simply a website for people with way too much time on their hands to share everything on their minds with people that don’t really care.  Although, I believe, my initial impression holds true for the average twitterer, Twitter is in fact a great resource for companies and businessmen to connect with their clients.  Take the Denver Broncos for example.  John Elway is actively using Twitter to stay in touch, and keep in the loop, fans who have been extremely disappointed with mismanagement in the personnel office. In the same vein, many other pro athletes use Twitter to create and maintain a fan base.  For these people, Twitter can be a useful resource.
