Wikipedia + Advertisements = Success??

Ever since the inception of Google, they have gained a steady increase of cash flow through various methods such as sponsored links. Each time people search keywords on Google the best fitting websites are shown on the left, however, on the right side there are sponsored links. These sponsored links are those that pay Google to appear on the top of the results page.
Wikipedia generally isn’t known as a large money making venture but would it be beneficial for Wikipedia to allow companies to incorporate advertisements on their website?
